- Description
- This chapter explores T&D practices of MNCs in Ireland, focusing specifically on four key areas: (1) The financial outlay on the training and development of the workforce; (2) The extent to which MNCs operate formal succession planning and management development programmes, and whether these are global or local activities; (3) The development tools being utilised to develop high-potentials/senior managerial potentials; (4) The practices used to facilitate organisational learning and knowledge diffusion between subsidiaries. The chapter explores the use of expatriate assignments. This not only involves the provision of data on the use of traditional parent country expatnate assignments but also outflows from the subsidiary to other parts of the worldwide company including the parent country headquarters.
